The Dorset Youth Football League

The DYFL was founded in May 2001, and was formally know as the Dorset Divisional Youth League, with the aim to administer youth football in the Under 11 to Under 16 age groups.

The competition is sanctioned by the Dorset County Football Association.

The League now consists of 49 clubs and 222 teams spread over 10 ages groups, with approximately 3,000 registered players.  Although the majority of the clubs registered with the Dorset County Football Association, there are also clubs who are registered with Hampshire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Devon.  As the Football Association allows mixed gender teams up to U16 age group, we have girls playing in the league in our teams playing since Season 2017/2018. As of Season 2019/2010 the League now runs the Dorset Girls football leagues.

In line with the Football Association’s directive for Youth Football, the U9 & U11 leagues are non-competitive and all other age groups are competitive.

The Annual League Cup is competitive in all the age groups and will be run parallel with the other fixtures. The Cup Final Date for all groups will be Sunday 10th May 2020 and will be played at Blandford School.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Latest News” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:50|text_align:center|color:%232644ef”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row 0=””][/vc_row][vc_column 0=””][vc_basic_grid post_type=”post” max_items=”10″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1568579377553-49b57ddc-f40b-8″][/vc_column]

Dear Club Secretaries, managers, coaches, referees, players and parents,

Return to Football

With the re-start of grassroots football from 29th March, the League is delighted that around 200 of our teams will be taking to the pitch again in the organised friendly groups providing matches over April and May. Fixtures are posted on this site and results will be updated by League Secretaries on a weekly basis.

Club Secretaries should have received the updated F.A. guidence on Covid-19 for re-starting football and are asked to make sure the contents have been passed to all relevant individuals within their club and individual teams to ensure games take place in as safe a manner as possible.

The friendly games are not what we ideally would have wanted to be playing at this time of any season, but through them we can all work together to provide the physical and mental activity so much missed during the lockdown periods endured since we started back in September.

Enjoy your football!

Dave Drew

Dorset Youth Football League Chairman
